The theme for The Summer Reading Challenge this year is Story Garden. This theme celebrates the magical connection between storytelling and nature and encourages children to explore the great outdoors, using their imagination to spark adventure.
The aim of the challenge is for children aged 4-11 to read as much as possible over the summer holidays from Saturday 21 June to Saturday 13 September.
For each book read, children will receive a special prize, including, stickers, a bookmark and a pop badge. If six books are read by the end of the challenge, they will receive a wooden medal and a certificate with their name on it.
Mini Challenge for ages 0-3
From 2025, children aged 3 and under can participate in the 'Mini Challenge.' They can collect a sticker for every book they read with a special sticker for the sixth book.
Teen Reading Challenge for ages 12-17
The aim of the Teen Reading Challenge is to read six books by Saturday 13 September. After reading the first book, teens can enter the prize draw for the chance to win one of this years exciting prizes.
Adult Reading Challenge for ages 18+
Adults who complete the challenge of reading six books can enter our prize draw for the chance to win a range of prizes; including tickets to our popular lecture series.
