Eastgate House was built for Peter Buck in 1590, who was an important figure in the Medway area, holding many influential offices including alderman and mayor of Rochester, and Clerk of the Cheque at Chatham Dockyard.Five generations of the Buck family were associated with the house until 1687 when it was sold to John Parker.
