Alcock & Brown were the first to complete an airborne crossing of the Atlantic in June 1919. The modified Vickers Vimy in which they flew had been built at the Crayford works of Armstrong Vickers. The centenary was marked by special events and an exhibition at Hall Place with the backing of Bexley London Borough and additional funding from the Heritage Lottery.
