Research into the east end of Chatham High Street, with particular reference to 304 - 306 , one of the few remaining weather boarded properties in the town centre. The folder contains information on the bicycle shop run by G & E.A. Varley from the premises, a description of the building's current layout and condition; evidence about its mode of construction and identifies it as no. 224 on the Board of Health map of 1853. A brief history of the Board of Health is followed by information on the Chatham Workhouse, which also features prominently in this section of the BoH map.The volume contains useful notes, a reproduction of part of the Board of Health map and architectural drawings by the compiler.Additional larger maps and plans are located in the Chatham map collection.
