The Kent Cultural Baton is a unique artwork development by artist Nicole Mollett and commissioned by Kent County Council. The Kent Cultural Baton is a converted 1950s Airstream caravan which travelled the county in the lead up to the London 2012 Games. Throughout its journey, the Baton held creative events, exhibitions and activities which encouraged people to explore the lost, forgotten and hidden places of Kent, asking them to share local stories and giving them a chance to learn about their area’s past. The project culminated in the Atlas of Kent – a published record and online resource which displays a snapshot of the Baton’s journey, as well as Kent’s fascinating history.
